THE MISSING RESPONSES FOR EXERCISE 2

INSTRUCTIONS:  Match the following responses of the lover with the singer's words. (Some are used more than once)

  • Alright! Have it your way, but you are wrong!

  • But I am!

  • But I mean it this time!

  • But I'm telling the truth!

  • Don't want to hear what?

  • Don't want to know what?

  • Heard what before? I couldn't understand what you were saying.

  • I'm better-looking than a lot of the others.

  • Say it in English.  I can't understand what you are saying

  • Seen what?

  • Seen what?  Let me explain...

  • That's not right!  I stay because I love you.

  • What do you mean?

  • What is it exactly you have heard before?

  • Why not?

  • Why not?

  • You're not giving me a chance to explain!

The Answer Key

  • Exercise 1 = Singer's Words

  • Exercise 2 = Matching Exercise

Singer: Je suis desolé, Lo siento, Ich bin traurig, Sono spiacente, Perdoname!  I've heard it all before...

Lover: Heard what before? I couldn't understand what you were saying.

Singer: I don't want to hear

Lover:  Don't want to hear what?

Singer: I don't want to know

Lover:  Don't want to know what?

Singer: Please don't say you're sorry

Lover:  But I am!

Singer: I've heard it all before and I can take care of myself

Lover:  But I mean it this time!

Singer: You're not half the man you think you are

Lover:  What do you mean?

Singer: Save your words, because you've gone too far

Lover:  But I haven't done anything!

Singer: And listen to your lies and all your stories

Lover:  But I'm telling the truth!

Singer: You're not half a man you like to be

Lover:  I'm better-looking than a lot of the others.

Singer: I've seen it all before and I can't take it anymore

Lover: Seen what?  Let me explain...

Singer: Don't explain yourself 'cause talk is cheap. There are more important things than hearing you speak

Lover:  You're not giving me a chance to explain!

Singer: You stay because I made it so convenient

Lover:  That's not right!  I stay because I love you.

Singer: Don't explain yourself you'll never see

Lover:  Alright! Have it your way, but you are wrong!

Singer: Gomen nasai, Mujhe maaf kardo, Przepraszam, Slihah

Lover: Say it in English.  I can't understand what you are saying

Singer: Forgive me. Sorry sorry sorry sorry... I've heard it all before

[Repeat Chorus]

Singer: Don't explain yourself 'cause talk is cheap. There are more important things than hearing you speak

Lover:  You're not giving me a chance to explain!

Singer: I've heard it all before.

Lover: What is it exactly you have heard before?

For all the multi-tasking, hardworking women in the CB crowd
