  • Exercise:            1
  • Level:                 Intermediate +

INSTRUCTIONS
  • Students enjoy the physical involvement of this exercise.  Confident students should either work alone, or be teamed with weaker students.

  • Cut the photocopy into strips as indicated.  Instruct students to scatter the pieces in front of them, so they can read them easily.
  • Play the song at an appropriate speed to suit students' ability.

TIP:  To make the strips more user-friendly and to preserve them for future use, laminate the photocopied sheets before cutting.  If making more than one set, use different coloured paper for each set.

Boys Will Be Boys

sung by The Ordinary Boys

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

And me say,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

and say "Boys Will Be Boys".

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

"Boys Will Be Boys"

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

"Boys Will Be Boys."

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Boys will be Boys and there's nothing you can say;

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Boys will be Boys; we'll survive 'till the end,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

But I can take it on the chin,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

But if I saw her I could hardly restrain

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

But the others said they couldn't be prised apart;

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Cause with me, people understand.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Chin up, Chin up,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Every worked girl to labour with me,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I hope you never let this down now,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've felt driven and I've felt obliged;

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've had feelings like a thorn in my side.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've had nights I will always regret,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

I've had nights I will never forget;

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

So thanks a lot.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

So thanks a lot.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

So to make people unite nicely as one.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Spread the word across the land,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

There've been girls that have stolen our hearts,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

This goes out to all me girls and everyone,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

We cheat and we lie and we fight;

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

We cheat and we lie and we fight;

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

We’re comforting the people - them rocking and swaying.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

We don't cry, while we try.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

We don't cry, while we try.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Well it's under my skin, so I can never win,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Well it's under my skin, so I can never win,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

When serious, I never ever play.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Whoever lets us in, they say "Boys Will Be Boys"

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Whooaaaa....

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Wish I had a magic wand,

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

You'd better move out (of) the way.

#- - - - - - - - - - - - -

Boys Will Be Boys

Sung by The Ordinary Boys

  • Language Note:              Grammar & spellings have been corrected for the sake of accuracy;  not all of  the grammar has not been corrected in the Rap.

  • Pedagogic Suggestion:     Find the original version on the net for comparison.

I've had nights I will never forget;

I've had nights I will always regret,

But I can take it on the chin,

and say "Boys Will Be Boys".

There've been girls that have stolen our hearts,

But the others said they couldn't be prised apart;

Whoever lets us in, they say "Boys Will Be Boys"

Well it's under my skin, so I can never win,

So thanks a lot.

We cheat and we lie and we fight;

We don't cry, while we try.

I've felt driven and I've felt obliged;

I've had feelings like a thorn in my side.

I hope you never let this down now,

"Boys Will Be Boys."

But if I saw her I could hardly restrain

Every worked girl to labour with me,

Chin up, Chin up,

"Boys Will Be Boys"

[Rap]

And me say,

You'd better move out (of) the way.

We're comforting the people - them rocking and swaying.

When serious, I never ever play.

Boys will be Boys and there's nothing you can say;

Spread the word across the land,

Cause with me, people understand.

Wish I had a magic wand,

So to make people unite nicely as one.

This goes out to all me girls and everyone,

Boys will be Boys; we'll survive 'till the end,

Whooaaaa....

<>()<>

Well it's under my skin, so I can never win,

So thanks a lot.

We cheat and we lie and we fight;

We don't cry, while we try.

For all the mischievous men from the CB crowd

My apologies for jumping to the wrong conclusions at times especially with the one who had the big car on the Eastern Esplanade.  Please forgive me.
